BCKC member since 2003
Current Position: Club Commodore

In Jeff's own words:
During my time at BCKC, I have spent 1 year as the boathouse co-manager
and 5 years as the Commodore, which is the club's president.
The Commodore is one of the four Director positions at BCKC which
are required by our being a registered non-profit society within
BC. The other Director positions at BCKC are Vice-commodore, Treasurer
and Secretary.
I came to BCKC from a sea kayak touring background. My partner
Katja and I got into sea kayaking in 1999, quickly becoming enraptured
with our newfound freedom to paddle BC’s coastal waters. As
our passion for paddling grew we began challenging ourselves by
participating in local kayak races. Over the years we found ourselves
getting more and more involved with kayak racing until in 2003 we
competed in the Yukon River Quest, a 740 km race from Whitehorse
to Dawson City. In the fall of that same year we discovered the
Burnaby Canoe and Kayak Club which opened up an entirely new form
of paddling to us. Since then we have competed in the World Masters
Games at Edmonton, Canadian National Championships and CanMas (for
25 yrs and over paddlers) at Halifax, Montreal, Regina and Ottawa,
and we are preparing for the 2009 World Masters Games at Australia.
In addition we have become very active in the surfski racing community,
taking part in races throughout BC, Washington State and California…so
far.
