Here’s a great opportunity to learn to paddle canoes and kayaks. This 4-week program is ideal for those who’ve always wanted to try paddling and for those who want get some exercise through paddling and even for those who just want to check out the nature scene on Burnaby Lake. Our experienced staff will introduce you to paddling using very stable boats and will provide you opportunity to challenge your skills with more advanced canoes and kayaks. All boating and safety equipment is provided; just bring a willingness to have some fun…and a spare change of clothes.

Class sizes are limited to 10 participants, except under special circumstances.

Now - what should I bring to the lesson?
WHAT TO WEAR:
  • Be comfortable
  • Be prepared to get a little wet
  • Shorts or track pants (Jeans are not recommended)
  • T-shirt/ long sleeve or long underwear if the weather is cool
  • Windbreaker or light breathable raincoat
  • Shoes are not allowed in the boats; therefore bring sandals or water shoes (or bare feet)
  • A hat and/or sunglasses is strongly recommended


  • WHAT TO BRING:
  • A water bottle
  • A towel for after the lesson
  • A change of clothes (in case you get more than a little wet!)
  • PFDs are provided but you are welcome to bring your own
  • A smile
