Beginner/Recreational, Intermediate and
High Performance Youth Sprint Programs

The Beginner Canoe/Kayak Racing program provides an introduction to the sport of canoe and kayak. BCKC wants to promote this unique sport, which is fun and develops strength, endurance and balance in a natural outdoor environment. This entry-level program is geared to introduce participants to the sport and the equipment. BCKC provides the participants with stable boats, with the opportunity to advance to more challenging boats when they are ready. This program encourages water safety, skill development, care and maintenance of the equipment, a team atmosphere and an all around good time. The youth will be taught this Olympic sport by a nationally certified coach.
The athletes involved with this program have the opportunity to race for BCKC in various regattas in the the Lower Mainland, Nanaimo, Kamloops and Washington State.
Suitable for: Boys and Girls 8-19 years
Beginners/Recreational: None (CanoeKids or Pacific Cup program or similar is preferred). See Intro to Paddling for Teens for 5-week program option.
Intermediate: By invitation from the coaching staff.
High Performance: By invitation from the coaching staff.
Depends on program. All participants must purchase annual (junior) membership and training program fees separately. Fees will be pro-rated during the season. Fall and Winter 2018 sprint fees will be determined later in the season and will be posted to the Registrations pages.

2018 Programs start April 3. You can join the program at any time during the season.
Summer schedule - starts July 3.
Beginner and Recreational program (Mon/Tues/Thursdays 3-5 pm)
Intermediate Race training program (Mon/Tues/Wed/Fri 8-10 am, optional practice Sat 9-11 am)
High Performance training program (Weekdays 10 am - Noon and 2-4 pm, except Thurs pm only, Sat 9-11 am)
April - June and September - March schedule (tentative)

Intermediate Race training program (Tues/Thurs 4-6 pm, Sat 10 am - Noon)
