For girls and those who identify as female, ages 10-14
Empowering young paddlers through sport, community, and confidence.
Girls on Water Week at Burnaby Canoe & Kayak Club is a dedicated week of summer camp designed to support and uplift girls and gender-diverse youth in a fun, inclusive, and encouraging environment. Open to participants aged 10 to 14 who identify as female, this unique program blends outdoor adventure with skill-building, leadership development, and personal growth.
Throughout the week, campers will be introduced to a variety of paddling disciplines, including canoe and kayak. Under the guidance of knowledgeable and positive female instructors, participants will develop fundamental paddling techniques, water safety awareness, and the confidence that comes with trying something new.
But this week is about more than just paddling. Girls on Water Week is about:
Creating a safe space where everyone feels seen, supported, and inspired.
Fostering connection and teamwork through group challenges, games, and boat-based activities.
Promoting physical activity and resilience in a welcoming, pressure-free setting.
Building leadership and self-esteem by encouraging each individual to step into their strengths — both on the water and on land.
Participants will also have the chance to engage in team-building games and creative projects. Whether your child is brand new to paddling or looking to continue their journey in a female-focused space, Girls on Water Week is a place where they can thrive, connect, and grow.
